The London Orthotic Consultancy Limited
The London Orthotic Consultancy (LOC) is a private clinic that provides bespoke orthotic treatments for a wide range of adult and paediatric conditions. It was founded in 2004.LOC is passionate about orthotics and their capabilities to improve lives. We search the world for the most innovative and evidenced based orthotic solutions.
Since 2015 we have been working with Elaine Owen, MBE, the world renowned physiotherapist and have established what we call our OSKAR (Optimal Segmental Kinematic Alignment Approach to Rehabilitation) clinic which specialises in the treatment of children with neuromuscular conditions caused by such conditions as cerebral palsy and spina bifida.
At our OSKAR clinic we assess each child on the basis of the ICF guidelines; these provide a framework within which our clinicians can measure and assess an individual’s physical functioning. Gait and walking patterns are assessed in our video vector Gait Laboratory. We can then set goals for the improvements we want to see with our orthotic treatments.
Our OSKAR clinics are held in The London Orthotic Consultancy’s gait laboratory at our headquarters clinic in Kingston upon Thames and at the University of Salford using the teaching hospital’s Gait Laboratory.
We manufacture the majority of the bespoke orthotics we prescribe on site at our Kingston clinic. This means we have far more control over the design process. More control leads to better design, faster delivery and more reliable quality.
